What is Medical Grade Chromotherapy?

Even though we may not realize it, color is a very important part of our existence. It's all around us at any given moment in time and each color can represent something to us or affect our mood/health.

Take a moment and think about a sunny day. The yellow and orange of the sun washes over everything outside (and inside through windows) giving the world a warm tone. Sunny days are usually associated with positive feelings while on the opposite end of the spectrum, cloudy days (which have a grey hue) are associated with gloom and sometimes negative feelings.

Because we as humans are affected by colors and temperature, certain seasons, especially in areas where it gets cold and snowy for parts of the year, can cause us to be happier or more sad depending on the weather. This is where Medical Grade Chromotherapy comes in.

According to a study done by the Department of Physics, University of Balochistan, Quetta, Pakistan*, chromotherapy is, "...a method of treatment that uses the visible spectrum (colors) of electromagnetic radiation to cure diseases." The study goes on to test whether or not this form of treatment is actually effective and comes to the conclusion that, "We conjecture that color is a quantum state of matter. There are other quantum states such as charm, beauty, flavor, tenderness, etc.[...] Chromotherapy as a system of treatment can benefit people because of its harmony with nature. Everything that exists in this world is a combination of different colors."

The effectiveness of Chromotherapy as a treatment depends on many different factors as it's measurements are not completely cut and dry. Each person's body is different so with a more holistic approach to healing, treatment and effectiveness vary.

Colors

Each color used in chromotherapy has a different purpose. Here's a quick rundown of the different colors and what they can help with.**

Red
The color red naturally increases your heart rate when you see it. This color is great for energy, blood circulation, combatting fatigue, colds, and warming you up if you're cold!

Orange
The color orange is associated with sociability, happiness, success, and resourcefulness. It may also be useful in helping with digestive system discomforts like cramps.

Yellow
Yellow is the perfect color for mental clarity, inspiration, cheerfulness, and curiosity. This color is often used to ease depression, strengthen nerves, and help with digestion (similar to the color orange.)

Green
Green is one of the colors that is most important to humans as it's present in nature and brings us back to feelings of our natural existence. It's associated with peace and harmony and helps with regulating the pituitary gland, bulimia, and other psychosomatic conditions affecting the gastric system.

Blue
Blue is calming. It stimulates the parasympathetic system (also known as the rest and digest system - it helps us conserve energy), reduces blood pressure, and has an anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxing effect. The color blue can also cool down inflammations, fever, and most importantly relieve headaches.

Violet/Purple
The color violet supports enlightenment, revelation, and peace. It can be used to soothe organs, relax muscles, and improve immunity
