National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day - April 30th!
Tuesday, April 30th is National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day. If you are not in a position to adopt a new pet, you can still show support for animals in the shelter with a donation of supplies until they find their forever homes! The Salt Room Appleton is collecting donations through the end of May and if you donate one or more of the wish list items below, you will receive $15 off any regular priced session. This can be used for salt, sauna, or Ampcoil sessions. Or you can save even more money per session and apply that $15 towards any 5 session package!
If you ARE in a position to adopt a new pet, you may want to consider Suds at the Neenah Animal Shelter. We are sponsoring his adoption fee in memory of our black cats, Stanley & Oliver. We hope that Suds will bring love and happiness to a new home the way Stanley & Oliver did for ours. We love all animals, but we definitely have a special place in our hearts for black cats. Suds is super sweet and anyone would be lucky to have him!
Having a pet can have a lot of positive effects on our health. Pets can help us manage our anxiety and stress levels and reduce loneliness and depression by providing companionship...and just being cute! Pets provide entertainment and make us laugh more. They can give people who have no one else to take care of a sense of purpose and make them feel needed. Pets also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering stress and blood pressure levels. Having a dog to take for walks or go to the park also helps people get out to socialize and get more exercise that they might not get without a dog.
If you would love to have a pet but have allergies to cats and/or dogs, or if you already have a pet that you are allergic to, regular salt therapy sessions can help to drastically reduce symptoms naturally and potentially eliminate the need for daily allergy medication. Depending on the severity of your allergies, you could try attending regular sessions for a while and spend more time around animals to see how you feel. Allergic reactions can change at any point in our lives and I know firsthand that it can be a heartbreaking thing when allergies interfere with your relationship with a beloved pet.
We are already off to a good start with collecting supplies and we thank you in advance if you can help with donations! Have you adopted a pet from a shelter? Tell us about them in the comments!
